At Prasada Yoga Studio, yoga is more than just movement—it's a shared experience rooted in mindfulness, respect, and kindness. When we step into the studio space and onto the mat, we’re entering a sacred space—not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or new to the practice, observing simple yoga etiquette helps us all create a nurturing, peaceful environment where everyone can thrive.
🌿 Yoga Etiquette: Creating Space for Peace
Here are a few reminders to help you and your fellow yogis enjoy each class to the fullest:
Arrive on time – or even better, 10–15 minutes early. It gives you a few extra minutes to settle in, breathe, and transition into a calm state before class begins.
Respect others' space – Try not to step on anyone’s mat. For some yogis, their mat is like a personal sanctuary.
Hold the silence – As you enter and leave the studio space, please enter quietly. Many students use this time to ground themselves or reflect before and after class. Conversation is welcome in the foyer or outside!
Skip the strong scents – Please avoid perfume or fragrant lotions, as some students are sensitive to smells.
Silence your phone, watch, devices – Better yet, leave it in the designated storage area or your car to keep distractions at bay.
Leave personal items out of studio space – Purses, bags, coats, keys, etc. should be placed in the dedicated storage areas in the foyer to avoid clutter and create a safe, open space for practice.
Shoes off – Removing shoes in the foyer area keeps our practice space clean and energetically grounded. Shoes can be kept under the benches or on the shelving in the foyer.
Honor your body – Practice to your own comfortable edge. Listen, breathe, and modify as needed. Remember, if you’re struggling, you’re not practicing yoga.
Stay for Savasana – Final relaxation is not just the "cool-down"; it’s the most restorative part of class. Treat it as a gift to yourself.
Yoga teaches us that kindness isn’t just a concept—it’s a practice. And we see it happen here every day! These may seem like small gestures, but they ripple outward, creating a community that supports and uplifts one another. As you roll out your mat, take a moment to ground yourself. Breathe in kindness—for yourself and for those around you. Every mindful movement, every breath, every moment of stillness contributes to the collective energy of the room. We’re so grateful to share this space with you. Let’s continue to honor each other—with awareness, with gentleness, and with open hearts.
See you on the mat.
Namaste' 🙏
Jessica
